The Bible teaches each of us to deepen our spiritual roots. Colossians 2:6-7 says: “…You have accepted Christ as your Lord. Now keep on following him. Plant your roots in Christ and let him be the foundation for your life. Be strong in your faith, just as you were (are) being taught. And be grateful.”

Developing mature followers of Christ is one of the main missions of The Servant Church.
Ephesians 4:12 (LB) says “…building up the church, the body of Christ, to a position of strength and maturity.”

2 Corinthians 13:9 (LB) says “Our greatest wish and prayer is that you will be mature Christians.”

The New Testament is very clear that God’s will for every believer is spiritual maturity. He wants us to grow up. Paul said in Ephesians 4:14 (Phillips), “We are not meant to remain as children at the mercy of every chance wind of teaching…But we are meant to speak the truth in love, and to grow up in every way into Christ, the head.”

The ultimate goal of spiritual growth is to become like Jesus. God’s plan for us since the beginning has been for us to be like his Son. “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers” (Romans 8:29). God wants every believer to develop the character of Christ.
